National University of Music Bucharest is divided into two main faculties – Faculty of Performing Arts and Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Music Pedagogy and the educational offer covers all study levels: Bachelor, Master and Doctorate.

EU students

Legal frame

The enrollment as an international student from an EU-country is open under certain conditions:

  • According to the national Law 316/ 12.07.2006, citizens from member states of the European Union, European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation, have the right to apply to studies in Romania, in the same financial circumstances as Romanian citizens.
  • The proof of the study documents (Baccalaureate/Bachelor/Master diploma) recognized and validated by the Romanian National Centre for the Recognition and Validation of Diplomas (CNRED), part of the Romanian Ministry of Education.
  • The proof of the Romanian as a Foreign Language Preparatory Year (List of accredited institutions that organize the Romanian as a Foreign Language Preparatory Year)

Procedure

The candidate carries the responsibility for the validation and diplomas equivalence, by submitting all the requested documentation directly to the Ministry of Education and Research. Only after receiving the certificate of study recognition, the candidate can apply at the National University of Music Bucharest.

The necessary documents for the enrollment

  1. The enrollment chart, under the own signature, providing the understanding of the legal requirements of the admission exam
  2. Baccalaureate diploma or Baccalaureate certificate (for Bachelor studies) and Bachelor diploma or Bachelor certificate (for Master studies)
  3. The highschool Transcript of Records (for Bachelor studies) or Bachelor Transcript of Records (for Master studies)
  4. Bachelor diploma or equivalent for those who wish to enroll for a second specialization
  5. Declaration that the candidate is/is not enrolled at another higher education institution
  6. Birth certificate – copy
  7. Identity card/passport – copy
  8. Marriage certificate (if the case) – copy
  9.  4 photos (passport format)
  10. List of the repertoire/portfolio, due to the chosen specialization
  11. Medical certificate
  12. The bill of the paid enrollment tax

The enrollment should be done in person directly at the National University of Music Bucharest

Bachelor

1st session:

  • Enrollment: May 1st – 23rd 2025
  • Admission exams: June 23rd – July 6th 2025

2nd session:

  • Enrollment: August 27th – 28th 2025
  • Admission exams: September 1st – 7th 2025
Master
  • Enrollment: July 8th – 9th 2025
  • Admission exams: July 11th – 16th 2025

Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Music Pedagogy

Bachelor

1st session:

  • Enrollment: May 1st – 23rd 2025
  • Admission exams: June 23rd – July 6th 2025

The 2nd session is to be announced (if available places)

Master:
  • Enrollment: July 7th – 8th 2025
  • Admission exams: July 10th – 16th 2025

The 2nd session is to be announced (if available places)

The admission exams are taken place at the National University of Music Bucharest.

NON-EU students

If you are a non-EU citizen and wish to enroll as a student at the National University of Music Bucharest, either for BA, Master studies or Doctoral Degree, you should take into consideration the followings:

Romanian language certificate

1. You need a Romanian language certificate (level B1), before taking the admission exam. The certificate should be recognized by the accredited higher education institutions from Romania and it can be obtained at the end of a language preparatory year. (List of accredited institutions that organize the Romanian as a Foreign Language Preparatory Year)

The necessary documents for the enrollment

2. You need to prepare an admission folder, cotaining the following documents:

  • Birth certificate – copy and legalized translation
  • Scanned copy of the document mentioning the residence from abroad
  • Scanned copy of the passport
  • Scanned request form for issuing the letter of acceptance to study in Romania (annex 2)
  • Copy and legalized translation of the Bachelor diploma or the equivalent, certified by the legal authorities from the country of origin
  • Copy and legalized translation of the certification concerning the graduation of the Baccalaureate
  • Transcript of records copy and legalized translation
  • Romanian language certificate – scanned copy
  • Medical certificate (in an internationally accepted language)

3. The admission folder should be send online at the International Relations Office between 3 – 14.07.2023, at the following email addresses: angela.sindeli@unmb.ro and cezar.paul.badescu@unmb.ro

After having received and checked by the International Relations Office, the admission folder should be taken to the Secretary of either the Faculty of Performing Arts (if you are a singer or a classical instrumentalist), or the Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Music Pedagogy (if you are a composer, musicologist, Jazz instrumentalist/singer or choir and ochestra conductor)

BA & MA Degrees: 750 Euro/month
Doctoral Degree: 770 Euro/month
